A brochure dedicated to the knowledge and prevention of bird electrocution was recently produced as part of the LIFE MILVUS project.
Published by E-Distribuzione, with conception and texts by Biodiversità sas and graphic design by Nicola Cillo, the brochure frames the phenomenon on a global level, clarifies its causes, identifies the most sensitive species, identifies the types of lines and supports that determine the greatest risks to avifauna and describes the technical solutions that can be adopted to make them safe. It also lists interventions implemented by E-Distribuzione in recent years as part of LIFE Nature projects to mitigate the risk of electrocution of various threatened raptor species in some Italian regions.
Finally, the paper proposes guidelines to build an organic strategy that, over the medium to long term, can increase knowledge about this important cause of mortality for birds, intensify the implementation of mitigation measures and target them in priority areas.
